More sales from search, starting with your category pages

What keeps most stores from ranking

The biggest shopping searches, like "women's trail running shoes," usually bring up a category page. Those pages often get the least SEO work. That's where we start.

01

Filters create thousands of pages nobody needs

Every mix of color, size and price can turn into its own URL. Google ends up crawling those instead of your new products.

02

Category pages with nothing but products

A collection page with a title and a wall of products gives Google little to go on, even though it's the page meant to rank for your biggest searches.

03

Sold-out products become dead ends

When a product sells out or gets dropped, the page often breaks or leads nowhere. The rankings and links it earned are lost too.

What online stores get from us

Everything we do is about more sales. We start with the parts of your store that have the most room to grow.

01

Page one for your biggest category searches

Your collection pages rank for the broad searches that most shoppers in your market use. We start with the categories that have the most room to grow.

02

More sales from product searches

Your product pages rank for product, brand and model searches. We make fixes in your templates, so every item you sell benefits.

03

More clicks from every search you show up for

Price, stock and reviews show in Google's results, which earns more clicks. Clean product data helps AI shopping tools recommend you too.

04

Recommended in AI shopping answers

ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews name your products and describe them well. Reviews, forums and comparison posts feed those answers, so we work there.

05

Ahead of big retailers on more searches

We work to win more of your category's searches from the big marketplaces and chains. We keep checking where you rank and go after the searches they win.

06

More sales from organic search

More of your search visitors place orders. We track the sales search brings in, and we start with your category and product pages.

The ecommerce platforms we work on

Every platform makes some SEO jobs easy and others hard. We plan the work around what your platform allows. Your developers get clear specs for anything that needs code.

If you run a Shopify Plus store, our Shopify Plus SEO page goes deeper into the platform. Our in-house writers and editors handle the category and product copy, and none of it is written by AI.

The order we do things in

We clean up wasted crawling and duplicate pages first, because content and links do more on a clean store.

01

Crawl and catalog audit

We crawl your store the way Google does and map every template, filter and URL pattern. You see which category pages have the most to gain and what's in their way.

02

Template and category fixes

We fix whole templates instead of single pages. Filter rules, canonicals, product templates and structured data go in first. Then we write new copy for the categories with the most room to grow.

03

Content, links and AI answers

We write buying guides that link into your collections, earn links and get you named in AI answers. When you add products or change themes, we catch duplicate pages before they cost you rankings.

What store owners ask us about ecommerce SEO

What does an ecommerce SEO agency do?+
An ecommerce SEO agency helps an online store make more sales from Google and AI search. The work covers how the store is set up, the category and product pages shoppers visit, and links that build its authority. We also look at how AI tools talk about your products. A good agency measures all of it against sales, because traffic that never buys doesn't help you.
Are you a Shopify SEO agency?+
Yes. Our team includes Shopify's former lead SEO, so we know which limits are built into the platform and which ones have a workaround. That saves the months a generalist agency spends learning Shopify on your budget. For Shopify Plus stores, our Shopify Plus SEO page explains how we handle bigger catalogs and multiple markets.
Which ecommerce platforms do you work with?+
We work on Shopify, Shopify Plus, BigCommerce, Magento and Adobe Commerce, WooCommerce and Salesforce Commerce Cloud, plus headless storefronts built on top of them. Each one brings its own SEO problems. Shopify locks some URL paths. It also makes extra product URLs under each collection. Magento and Salesforce Commerce Cloud give you more control. That also means more ways for filters to make pages Google shouldn't crawl. Magento's layered navigation can create thousands of filter URLs. A WooCommerce store is often only as fast as its plugins. We plan around what your platform allows and write clear specs for your developers when something needs code.
Should SEO focus on category pages or product pages?+
Start with category pages, then improve product pages through the template. Category and collection pages match the broad searches with the most shoppers behind them, like women's rain jackets. Google often prefers a category page for those searches because it shows a range of options. Product pages win the specific searches, like a model name or a part number. You need both, but categories usually have more room to grow.
How do you handle faceted navigation and filter pages?+
We decide which filters deserve their own spot in Google and keep the rest out of the crawl. A filter like black leather boots might get plenty of searches, so it gets a proper page with its own title and copy. Most others, like size 9 sorted by price, don't. We handle those with canonical tags, noindex or robots rules. The right choice depends on your platform. That way Google spends its time on your products instead of thousands of near-duplicate pages.
What happens to SEO when a product sells out or is discontinued?+
It depends on whether the product is coming back. If it's only sold out for now, keep the page live and mark it out of stock in your structured data. Point shoppers to similar products or a back-in-stock alert. If it's gone for good, redirect it to the closest match or to its category. The rankings and links it built up then go somewhere useful. Deleting the page and letting it 404 throws that value away.
Does product schema still matter for ecommerce SEO?+
Yes. Product structured data tells Google the price, stock status and reviews for each product. It also means your listings can show rich results with prices and star ratings. It also gives AI shopping tools clean facts to work from. We add it to your templates so every product gets it. Then we check that it matches what's on the page, because markup that doesn't match can get ignored.
Do we need to rewrite manufacturer product descriptions?+
For the products that matter most, yes. If you carry brands other stores also sell, the manufacturer's description is probably on dozens of other sites. Google has little reason to rank your copy of it. We rewrite the copy for your best sellers and most-searched products first, with full product details. Templates improve the rest. Our in-house writers and editors do this work, and none of it is written by AI.
How do you build links to an online store?+
Every link is earned by hand from sites in your niche, like specialist publications and gift guides. We point links at the category and brand pages that bring in sales, as well as the homepage. For a performance nutrition retailer, we built dedicated links for the third-party brands it carries. Impressions tripled, 87% of those brands rank in positions 2 to 6, and clicks grew 40% year over year.
How do you get our products recommended in ChatGPT and AI shopping answers?+
We run campaigns across the places AI tools learn from, like reviews, forums, comparison articles and other independent sites. That gives the models good reasons to name your products. On your own store, we make product facts clear and structured so AI tools can read them easily. For Evry Jewels, a fast-fashion jewelry brand, a 6-month AI sentiment campaign changed how AI tools compared the brand, and ChatGPT now picks it in comparisons.
Can you help our store sell in other countries or languages?+
Yes. A new market needs hreflang and a clear setup for each country or language. It also needs copy that uses the words people there search with. Translating word for word often misses those words. For a luxury ecommerce brand, we expanded the on-page architecture and added Spanish-language pages, and clicks grew 142% year over year. Our international SEO page covers how we set up new markets.
How long do ecommerce SEO services take to show results?+
Fixes to crawling and indexing can show up within a few weeks. Rankings and traffic on competitive category searches usually start to move within 3 to 6 months, and revenue builds from there. Big catalogs with a lot of filter pages can see earlier gains once Google stops wasting time on them. If your store is seasonal, start well before your busy months so the work has time to settle in.
