Adult SEO

Adult SEO for high-traffic sites and platforms

Once an adult site grows past a million pages, it gets hard to make Google crawl the right ones. Our adult SEO team includes former MindGeek leads who worked on sites that big.

Problems every large adult site runs into

An adult site has the same problems as any big site, and a few extra ones that come with the industry. These are the three we check first.

01

SafeSearch hides more than you meant it to

When Google can't tell your explicit pages from the rest, your brand, help and billing pages can get filtered along with them.

02

Uploads make pages faster than Google can crawl them

Every upload, tag and profile adds new URLs. Many are thin or near copies, and Googlebot spends its visits on them instead of your best category pages.

03

Paid traffic is hard to buy

Google restricts adult ads, and Meta and most big social platforms don't accept them. That leaves organic search to bring in more of your new visitors.

What our adult SEO work gets you

We start every plan by looking at how Google crawls your site today. Here's what the work gets you.

01

More of your site in Google's results

Google finds and ranks your top categories and new uploads sooner, instead of wasting its visits on duplicate, sort and filter pages.

02

People who search your name find you

Your brand, help and billing pages show up for anyone searching your name, with SafeSearch on or off, so people can always reach you and get support.

03

Page one for your main categories

Your category pages rank for the terms that bring in new visitors. Each category that earns its own page gets the content and internal links it needs to compete.

04

More visitors and signups without paid ads

Adult ads are hard to buy, so search carries more of your growth. We track which pages bring in signups and put more work into the best ones.

05

Rankings that hold up against bigger rivals

Links from trade media and the business sites that cover the industry give you the authority to compete. We check every site by hand before we pitch it.

06

Fair, accurate answers in AI tools

We work to get ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews to describe your brand accurately, from privacy to billing, by improving the sources those tools read.

Making sure searches for your name lead to you

Pirate sites and lookalike domains often rank for an adult brand's name and take visitors who were looking for you. We find them so your team can report them, and we help your own pages rank first.

Your help and billing pages on topWhen people search for your brand name
Pirate sites reportedWhen they rank for your creators' names

How we start on a large adult site

A big site usually needs a plan for what to cut before it needs more content, so that's where we begin.

01

Read the logs

We crawl the site and read your server logs to see what Googlebot visits, what it skips and which URLs should never be indexed. We also check your SafeSearch labels and your age check setup.

02

Pick the pages worth indexing

You get a written plan for which page types stay in the index, which get merged and which stay out. It comes with the template and internal link changes your developers need to make.

03

Build pages and earn links

Our in-house writers and editors add intros and descriptions to the category pages that matter, and we start reaching out to publishers who'll link to you. We keep watching the logs as each change rolls out.

What adult businesses ask us about SEO

What is adult SEO?+
Adult SEO is search engine optimization for legal adult businesses, like content platforms, creator subscription sites, cam sites, dating sites and adult product stores. It covers the same basics as any SEO, plus problems that are specific to the industry. Those include SafeSearch filtering, age verification, huge numbers of user-uploaded pages and a short list of publishers willing to link to you.
What should I look for in an adult SEO agency?+
Start with whether they've worked on sites with millions of pages, because most of the hard problems in adult SEO come from scale. Ask how they'd handle crawl budget, tag pages and duplicate uploads, and listen for specifics. Ask exactly where their links come from, and be wary of anyone who promises a number of links per month or guaranteed rankings. Last, find out who does the work. At Growing Search, the people you meet on the first call are the ones who do the work. They keep watching your logs and your brand searches and raise a problem before you have to ask. Our in-house writers and an editor handle the content.
What experience does your team have with adult sites?+
Our senior team includes former MindGeek leads who helped grow some of the highest-traffic websites in the world. We don't share numbers from that time. What we bring is knowing which problems show up on a site with millions of pages and what fixes them.
How does SafeSearch affect adult websites?+
SafeSearch filters or blurs explicit results for many Google users, and it's on by default for signed-in users under 18. You can't make explicit pages show up for people with the filter on, and you shouldn't try. What you can control is how clearly Google can tell your explicit pages from the rest. Google suggests adding the adult rating meta tag to explicit pages and keeping them in a separate folder or subdomain. If it's done well, your brand, help and blog pages stay visible to everyone. It can take Google a few months to reclassify pages after you make changes.
How do you manage crawl budget on a site with millions of pages?+
We start with your server logs, because they show exactly which URLs Googlebot requests and how often. Google's own guidance says crawl budget is mostly a concern for large sites, around a million pages or more, or sites with 10,000 or more pages that change every day. Large adult platforms are often past both. We block or remove the sort, filter and internal search URLs that waste visits, clean up sitemaps so they only list pages worth indexing, and strengthen internal links to new uploads and top categories.
Should every tag and category have its own page?+
No. A tag page earns its place when people search for that term and the page has enough content to be worth visiting. We set a rule for your site, usually a minimum number of items plus enough people searching for it. Tags below it get merged into a parent category or kept out of the index. Categories that pass get a clear title, a short written intro and links from related categories, so Google spends its time on the pages that can rank.
How do you deal with duplicate and thin pages from user uploads?+
We find where the copies come from first. Often it's the same upload reachable at several URLs, profiles with no bio, or titles that are only a file name and a number. Then we fix it at the template level with canonicals, noindex rules for pages that aren't ready, and upload fields that ask creators for a proper title and description. Fixing the template once is far cheaper than cleaning up pages one by one.
How does age verification affect SEO?+
It can hide your whole site from Google if every page is behind the check, because Googlebot can only index what it's shown. Age verification laws differ by country and, in the US, by state, and they keep changing. Your legal team decides what you need to do in each market. Our part is the search side. We work out with them which pages, if any, can stay public under the rules that apply to you. We never show Googlebot something different from what a visitor sees, since Google treats that as cloaking. Googlebot also crawls mostly from US addresses, which matters when your gate changes by location. None of this is legal advice.
How do you build links to an adult website?+
By hand, and more slowly than in most industries. Most mainstream publishers won't link to an adult site, and many sites that will are selling links from networks Google ignores or penalizes. We go after adult industry trade media, business and tech coverage of the industry, and sites about the creator economy, payments and online privacy. Non-explicit assets, like a data study, a press page or a research report, are often much easier to get linked than the main site, so we help you build those too.
Why does organic search matter more for adult businesses?+
Because most of the other channels are closed or expensive. Google restricts adult ads, and Meta and most big social platforms don't accept them at all. Card networks and payment processors also put extra rules and costs on adult merchants, which squeezes the margin on every paid visitor. A visitor who finds you through search costs nothing per click, and a site that ranks well keeps bringing them in month after month.
Can you protect our brand from pirate and copycat sites?+
Yes. We look at what ranks for your brand name, your top creators and your main category terms, and flag pirate sites, scrapers and lookalike domains that copy your content. We put together the URL lists your team or counsel needs to file copyright removal requests with Google, then track whether the copies drop out. At the same time, we build up your own help, billing and brand pages so they're the first results people see when they search your name.
How long does adult SEO take to show results?+
Technical fixes on a large site can show up within a few weeks, once Google recrawls the pages you changed. Gains from category content and new links usually take 3 to 6 months. SafeSearch reclassification is separate and can take a few months as well. Your specialist tells you in plain words which parts are moving and which aren't.
